Day 111 - Alone

Do you know how it feels to be alone?
“The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved.”

Day 110 - The Jeepney

I couldn't deny what I saw while we were on our way to visit my brother's family, these poor kids are risking their lives riding a jeepney in that manner. I then realized that I am back to reality, how can I forget; I was once in the same bait of life.

In the Philippines, when you don't find your way to where you wanted to be, there will be no one to take you there. Even the government will never care... So, just take the risk, ride a jeepney; however it may be......just believe that someday you will make it and life would take you there and treat you well.

Day 109 - Lantern

(The local lantern of Cebu)
Colorful lanterns are visible everywhere, a simplest way of celebrating festivity and bringing people together in unity.

Keep in mind that when you see these lanterns hanging, it represents peace and prosperity to the entire race.

Day 108 - Unforgettable Sunset

One thing that you will love in the Philippines is the sunset. Yes, it is because of the climate of the country and that is either tropical rainforest, tropical savanna or tropical monsoon.

If you happen to be in the Philippines any day of the year; you will notice that the most exciting moment is when you are actually waiting for the sun to disappear...

Day 107 - The Salakot

The salakot is a common symbol for Filipino identity.

Does this photo signify something to you?
Maybe No.

Well, it is just an ordinary head protection for farmers. Nothing special…
However, while we were in Cebu; this simple thing caught my breath and pinched my heart soon as my eyes gazed into it.

A reminisce of the past flashbacked; when I was younger I used to wear my father's old salakot. “it will help you prevent from heat exhaustion” that was my father’s voice!

Reality is we have not enough money to buy my size. To follow his order, usually I wrapped my head with his shirt to fit it into his old salakot.

Yes, the photo above is just a simple hat of a farmer, a protection against the extreme heat from the sun. For some people it is nothing. For some it is something. For me, it was a bare way of my father to make me feel loved and that he cared for me while he was still can.

This is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl; but in Cebu it is served in coconut shell.
